Description

The itinerary is based on the work of Mátyás Bél, a Lutheran pastor and polymath from the Kingdom of Hungary. He lived between 1684 and 1794. He was the founder of Hungarian geographic science and a pioneer of descriptive ethnography and economy. Bel undertook a comprehensive historical and geographic examination of the territory in hi well-known Notitia Hungariae Novae Historico Geographiaca. Part of the Kingdom of Hungary was also the northeast part of Slovenia, named Prekmurje. The latter is also described in his work, where special emphasis is given to castles and mansions of the region, especially to Castle Grad, Castle Murska Sobota and Mansion Rakičan. Descriptions of the region were made in year 1730.
