Sotiros is one of the newest villages of Thassos, most probably founded by the inhabitants of Kallirachis. At the same time, with the opening of the mines, the population of the village increased. The church of "Metamorfosi Sotiros" gave its name to the village. Skala Sotiros was created mainly due to the formation of the ring road and the asphalting of the two settlements (mountain and beach) as well as the reclamation.
