The University Library has been opened in the new building on May 24, The Day of Slavic Literacy that commemorates the saints Cyril and Methodius who created the first Slavic alphabet. The library is was built with generous support from Carnegie endowment who donated necessary funds for rebuilding the libraries in Loewen, Rems and Belgrade, all tree destroyed at the outburst of World War 1.
