The Regional and Study Library of Murska Sobota is the central regional library of Pomurje. It carries special functions for the Hungarian national community and for Slovenes living across the borders (in Porabje), and it also provides traveling library activities with a “bibliobus”. This is also a local studies library for Prekmurje, Prlekija and Porabje, with valuable collections in the area of local studies, ranging from older and rare prints from the 18th and 19th centuries, to periodicals in the Prekmurje language, to collections of handwritten and other important sources for the study and research of the recent history of the region around the Mura.
