The newspaper ll Dalmata : giornale politico, economico, letterario was published in Zadar from 10th March 1866 to 8th April 1916 twice weekly mostly in Italian and partially in Croatian language. The newspaper belonged to the Autonomist Party in Zadar who was oriented towards the Italian nationalism.  Il Dalmata covered primarily political issues but also brought articles on Dalmatian cultural history. Its columns were similar to those published in other contemporary newspapers in Zadar. Il Dalmata brought the news from the province of Dalmatia and simultaneously shared the news from the other newspapers published in Zadar as well as from those published in other parts of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
