Among the largest settlements of the 19th century, along with Theologos and Limenas, were Mikro and Megalo Kazaviti or Mikros and Megalos Prinos, which were two different communities until 1949. Macedonian architecture is typical of these mountainous settlements. The church of Agioi Apostoloi (Megalo Kazaviti) and of Agios Georgios (Mikro Kazaviti) date from the beginning of the 19th century and are elaborately decorated with wooden icons and frescoes. The Monastery of Ag. Panteleimonos was later built at three kilometers away from Mikro Kazaviti. The community of Prinos was created from both mountain settlements, in the middle of the 20th century. Skala Prinos is the newest coastal settlement and port of the island.
